Unconventional de-stressors
By now any of you who have visited this site before probably knows I advocate massage therapy as one of the best de-stressors around. If you need a reminder as to why I feel this way, check out a recent post.
Massage therapy, however, is not the only effective, natural way to deal with stress. Prevention Magazine has put together a comprehensive list of alternative de-stresors that I’m sure most of you have never thought of. One of my favorites? Reiki! Try Reiki
Japanese for “universal life energy,” this bodywork method involves gentle or no touch. Reiki therapists believe that they can channel energy through their hands and transmit it to the patient, promoting balance and healing. During a Reiki session, which typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, you’ll lie on a massage table, fully dressed, while the therapist places her hands in various positions around your head, torso, legs, and feet.
Studies have shown that Reiki reduces anxiety and blood pressure.
