Here’s a little relaxation trick that many meditators already practice: mind travel. If you have not been able to physically take that relaxing beach vacation you so desperately need, don’t fret. Use the following tips found at Massage and Bodywork Magazine to virtually go where you want to be.

Darken the room, says Kelli Calabrese, massage therapist, personal trainer, and author of Feminine, Firm & Fit. Lie or sit in a comfortable place. Close your eyes and focus on relaxing from head to toe—then, toe to head.

Visit, or just visualize, a scenic body of water when you want a short break, Calabrese says. Water calms. Lakes, ponds, or rivers can take you away. Miniature fountains or sounds of the surf will soothe and slow even the most persistent workaholic. Go outdoors, Calabrese urges. Sit in a quiet place and inhale the fresh air through your nose. Then, exhale through your mouth. Notice your surroundings and let your mind wander where your body can’t.
