No that was not a typo. If you haven’t yet heard of Ho’oponopono, be prepared to hear more about it in the near future. Ho’oponopono is an effective practice based in traditional Hawaiian culture. It literally means to set things right or in other words to fix what needs fixing.

The problem with Ho’oponopono is that is is exteemly simple but eliminates the term victim from our vocabulary. According to the practice we, individually, are responsible for everything we encounter in life. Everything. On the negative end that means war, famine, murder, child abuse, rape, theft, etc. Pretty heavy, huh? The good news is that we, by practicing Ho’oponopono, can change (or make right) those experiences mainly by concentrating on what we want to change and repeating a simple mantra. There are variations to the practice and mantras but the one I’ve become familiar with is: “I love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” That’s it. By simply taking responsibility for creating what you encounter in life, concentrating on it then stating the mantras you can change, make right and heal the world.

Now I know how that sounds. Pretty far fetched. But many effective practices are. If you are a believer in the Law of Attraction, you already know how powerful your mind is so this concept really just takes that a few steps forward. I’m currently reading a book based on Ho’oponopono called Zero Limits by Joe Vitale, one of the contributors to The Secret. It, of course, goes much more in depth on the concept. I also came upon a blog that had a really insightful post on Ho’oponopono, so be sure to check it out.

The bottom line is since the practice of Ho’oponopono is so incredibly simple it can’t hurt to try it. If you feel silly doing it or it doesn’t seem to work for you you’ve really lost nothing. Let me know, though, your thoughts and experience with Ho’oponopono because I’m just experimenting with it myself.
