I’ve recently come across a bodywork-enhancement practice called whole body vibration that many fitness and rehabilitation centers are offering. Though the vibration units were developed in the ‘60 by the Russians to enhance their space training program, they are now used to stimulate fat loss, improve balance and to improve bone mineral density thus treating osteoporosis. Users stand on motorized platforms as vibrations run up their bodies, stimulating muscle fibers and increasing their strength. It is suggested that those interested in trying whole body vibration consult with their doctors as more than thirty minutes a day of treatment may cause muscle fatigue.
