Happy New Year!
Oh a new year! I don’t know about you, but starting on December 31, my thoughts automatically turn to changes I’d like to initiate to get my life in optimal order. Generally, I’m usually striving for more harmony, health and prosperity. This year is no exception. Specifically, I’ve become focused on purging. You know, out with the old and in with the new. I have the lofty goal of attempting this with my possessions (more purging than splurging), my body (the new year is always a good time for a detox fast) and most importantly my mind because I know it all starts there.
I’ve recently started the practice of stating positive affirmations or declarations. My intention is to reduce the negative mind chatter that annoyingly pops up at any given point throughout the day and replace it with loving, prosperous statements. The Law of Attraction states that what you think about is what you attract more of in your life. I believe this wholeheartedly because I’ve seen it work in my own life. When I focus on health, I attract health into my life. If I focus on illness–or avoiding it–I attract illness into my life. Repeating affirmations is one effective practice to ensure positive outcomes. The trick? For me it’s repetition. So now I am training my mind to cancel the negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. The “can’t teach an old dog” adage would seem fitting here but with time and practice I’m sure I can get that old mind of mine to embrace some new tricks.
Below are a few statements that I use throughout the day in an attempt to keep me in a positive flow:
I live in a world of abundance and I deserve to be happy, healthy and wealthy.
God is creating my life through my deepest thoughts and beliefs.
My higher self knows how to manifest my heart’s desire so I just relax and let go.
How I choose to think creates my personal experience.
Everything that’s necessary for the fulfillment of my desires is lovingly and harmoniously drawn to me.
That which I seek is seeking me. I let go of how it will come to me and I focus on my heart’s desire.
I found these affirmations from various sources, including but not limited to Dr. Robert Anthony, The Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta, and The Secret (can’t mention it enough, I guess).
Feel free to create your own declarations in wording that resonates best with you. I’ll keep you posted on my manifestation progress. Happy new year–today’s the first day of the rest of your life.
