I’ve got to say that I was intrigued when I first heard to buzz about the movie The Secret. I had heard the title amongst the fans of What the Bleep Do We Know?, the docu-drama-animation film that became a word-of-mouth phenomenon. What the Bleep had the lofty goal of attempting to get the “conscious” viewer to break out of the realm of mundane thoughts of daily life and realize the underlying, always-present quantum fields controlling our destinies. I say it was lofty because though the film was really fascinating and truly thought-provoking, I believe it lost me somewhere in between its various presentation formats. Just as I seemed to be grasping the concepts described by one of the many metaphysical experts, the film lost me by introducing a dramatization that, in my very non-quantum based mind, had little connection. I left the film feeling enlightened because I knew I had witnessed a new format of filmmaking that spoke to me on a spiritual level. I also left quite confused and full as if I had consumed just a little too much.

The Secret, on the other had, took a concept repeated throughout What the Bleep, and focused on it alone. Though it too is a docu-drama in a way, it seemed focused and much easier to digest. The concept, or “the secret” that is introduced is nothing new. In fact, I have been aware of it for years but never quite applied it to my life effectively until I saw The Secret. The secret? The Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction is one of several Universal Laws which many believe surpass any man-made laws as they have been around since the beginning of time and govern the basic principles of life. The Law of Attraction specifically dictates that your thoughts create your reality so what you choose to think about is what is manifesting at all times in your life. It is probably the most basic of the Universal Laws but once it is applied and practiced it can provide immediate gratification. The hard part is in the practicing. If you’re anything like me, your mind has been conditioned from an early age to think of worst case scenarios, worry about them and ultimately prepare for them. The Law of Attraction demands that that “logic” be thrown out the window. Depending on how much work you create for yourself you’ll find that that way of thinking comes back in the window more times than you would think possible. Thus reprograming yourself could end up being very arduous, but fruitful work.

The Secret shows you in very clear, concise terms how to attract what you want in your life through this very powerful law. The basic steps are:

  • Use clarity. Be very clear in your mind about what you want.
  • Visualize. Meditate on the image and essence or feeling of what you want. You may use tools to help you with this step like treasure maps (visual collages of what you want) and affirmations.
  • Allow the flow. Have faith that the Law of Attraction is working and don’t block yourself or self-sabotage by reverting back to limiting thought patterns.
  • Act. Don’t just think about it…do something! Start putting into motion the actions needed to bring you closer towards what you truly want to manifest.

I highly recommend seeing The Secret to better grasp The Law of Attraction. It is available for one-time download viewing for about $5 or you may purchase it online by clicking the link below. Though I’m just in the beginning stages of using this practice, I have seen some significant shifts in my life physically, spiritually and mentally. I’m sure it will work for you too, if you think it will.
