Now you can ease your mind (somewhat) about an upcoming doctor’s visit by checking you physician’s credentials beforehand. This comprehensive American Medical Association (AMA) site provides information on about a half a million licensed U.S. physicians including their specialty, whether they’re board certified, and their contact information.

Another site, Doc Finder, is provided by Administrators In Medicine (AIM) the National Organization for State Medical & Osteopathic Board Executive Directors. It contains similar information, like if any physicians in 19 states are licensed to practice medicine, where they received their education and training, and whether they’ve been involved in any malpractice suits.

Education is key to maintaining your health so make sure you stay informed.
